Making Perfect Gavvalu
Mix together the flour sugar and ghee in a bowl. Slowly mix in water or milk until the dough becomes smooth and easy to shape. The texture needs to be solid so it stays in place when shaped. Take a little bit of dough, make it into a ball and then press it against a Gavvalu board or the back of a fork. Roll the material softly to make the distinctive shell design.
Heat up some oil in a deep pan and fry the Gavvalu until they become golden brown in color. Keep the heat at a moderate level so that the food cooks evenly and doesn’t get burnt. Make a thick sugar syrup and cover the fried Gavvalu completely. Let them cool down so the sugar can form a thin layer on the outside.
Gavvalu mixed with sugar is not just a tasty treat; it’s a symbol of our heritage that keeps us tied to our origins. This snack has a crispy texture, a sweet outer layer, and a long history. It’s no surprise that people of all ages still love it. At our candy store, we are proud to continue this custom by providing you with the best Gavvalu you will ever try.
