How did we make Gorumitilu?
Mix the all-purpose flour, ghee (or oil), and a little bit of salt together in a bowl. Slowly mix in water and work the dough until it becomes smooth and firm. Allow it to sit for 20-30 minutes. Form tiny pieces of the dough into balls about the size of marbles.
Press down on each ball and form it into a shell shape using a fork or the back of a spoon. This forms the distinctive lines that keep the jaggery syrup in place. Cook the formed dough pieces in groups until they become golden and crispy. Place the fried food on paper towels to soak up any extra oil.
Mix jaggery and water in a pan. Heat the mixture until the jaggery completely dissolves and the syrup becomes sticky (a little thick but not hard). Include cardamom powder to give a nice smell to the dish. Put the fried dumplings in the jaggery syrup and make sure they are covered evenly. Let the covered dumplings cool down so the syrup can harden and create a shiny coating.
Gorumitilu is a great way to make your day sweeter, whether you’re celebrating at a festival, spending time with family, or just craving something sweet. This sugary treat coated in jaggery always impresses with its delicious flavors and traditional taste.
